Mako Sharks are the fastest swimming shark, it can reach speeds over 50mph and launch itself into the air twice its body length.

Makos can grow to be over 1000lbs or better. A good mako that is 8 years old is about 9ft in length and around 300lbs.

Mako feed mostly on bony fish such as Bluefish and mackerel. Mako teeth are long sharp knife-point for grasping prey.

Its body temperature is 7-10 degrees higher than that of the surrounding water. Its warmer blood gives it a physical advantage over cold-blooded fish and enables it as an adult to kill the occasional large marine mammal such as a seal or porpoise.
