Most of the Shark fishing at Montauk is done close to shore, generally 20-30 miles from Montauk point.

There are sharks out further but this generally requires a fast boat to go further and still leave time for fishing.

Montauk is such a good fishing location its not necessary to travel all over the ocean trying to find a shark.

Keep in mind there are always days that are considered poor for shark fishing, regardless of the fishing location.

That’s why its called fishing instead of catching!
